Webinar, In Defense of the Monolithic Isolation Joint: Revisited

07 May 2020

In 2017, a paper titled “In Defense of the Monolithic Isolation Joint” was presented at a NACE CORROSION symposium. The paper was in response to an earlier NACE Symposium paper that characterized the monolithic isolation joint as a weak link in pipeline integrity. GPT examined the potential failure points identified in this earlier work and offered strategies based on our experience in the field to ensure that monolithic isolation joints serve their purpose of eliminating the well-documented cathodic protection challenges historically presented by flanged connections.

It’s now 2020, and we look back to this influential paper and explore how over the past 3 years GPT has improved the design of monolithic isolation joints, as well as the manufacturing and testing processes, to ensure joint integrity and performance.
